Orebro Color and Light Class (Intermediate Level)

  • Föreningarnas Hus Slottsgatan 13A Orebro Sweden (map)

This class will be held at Föreningarnas Hus on Oct 28-29, 2017. The fee is A$290 per person which covers the cost of tuition and a primed bust mounted on a plinth for each student.

I recommend everyone bring the following with them:

Food and Drink (we will have some short breaks for eating and stretching)
Paint
Brushes
Palette
Journal/Sketchbook
Pen/Pencil
Rinse Water Cup

and whatever else you may need to be comfortable.

I will supply everyone in class with a copy of Lucy the Vampire Bride from FeR miniatures (http://ferminiatures.com/shop/gothic-horror/lucy-the-vampire-bride/) prepared on a plinth for every student.

In the class we will go over lighting and atmoshpere on models, some blending techniques in case anyone needs help, color theory and how to push contrast.

This is a class that is aimed at bettering the current level of the students. I will not be teaching you my way of painting, as everyone has their own style. Instead, I will be teaching theory you can apply to your own style and help to push everyone out of their comfort zone. I will be available for demos if needed and questions throughout class.

Beginner students are welcome to class as the material covered is for all levels. The main distinction is that this class is not aimed at teaching technique so much as it is for teaching theory and concepts related to painting.

I utilize a PowerPoint presentation to introduce the different concepts in class. There will be breaks in between lecture topics to allow the students some time to do some color mixing exercises in order to better understand the concepts being discussed. Once the presentation is complete, students will have a chance to think about how they want to paint their model, prime them outside and come back and start working. I encourage students to discuss ideas among one another and ask as many questions of me as needed.

I would like everyone to have a finished bust by the end of class that you can take home as an example to show you what you are capable of.

We will run a fairly tight schedule so I would recommend everyone bringing food with them.

The class will run for 20 hours.
